Into Balance Therapies - blog post Are you taking HRT and still struggling with menopause symptoms? Image of lady with back to camera wearing white blouse and straw hat, standing in corn field looking at sunset

That’s what was happening for one of my clients recently.  We were chatting away during a treatment she came for to help support some back issues and we got on to a conversation about being women approaching a certain age and she mentioned the experiences she’d been having.

My client had been struggling with peri-menopause symptoms and had begun HRT which had alleviated some of her symptoms a bit but she was still finding herself forgetful of words, tired and lacking energy, her skin was dry and she was feeling less confident in herself.

She was peri-menopausal so still menstruating and would feel really awful for a couple of days prior to her period.  As a full-time working mum of two these symptoms were having a knock-on effect on her feelings about herself and her capacity to support her family and do good work.

I suggested she tried an EnerQi Facial Rejuvenation treatment as those who were experiencing menopause symptoms and receiving treatments had found it very beneficial in reducing symptoms (you can read more about the pilot study into EnerQi and Menopause here).  As EnerQi Facial Rejuvenation incorporates a nourishing and hydrating facial it could also help with the dry skin and rosacea she was experiencing.

What is EnerQi Facial Rejuvenation?

EnerQi Facial Rejuvenation aims to harmoniously support the body’s health and wellbeing whilst simultaneously providing facial skincare by incorporating the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the principle of ‘Qi’ the Chinese word for ‘energy’ that flows through our body to support life and maintain wellbeing.

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

TCM believes that everything in the body is interconnected.  What affects one organ affects another, what affects one system will eventually affect the whole of the body.  The body is connected through energetic channels known as meridians in which energy flows to and from organ systems in the body which help to create the Qi and substances of the body e.g. blood.  When the Qi is not free-flowing around the body then health and wellbeing cannot be maintained and symptoms develop reflecting the imbalances within the body.

Based on this interconnectedness TCM believes that what can be seen on the outside of our bodies is a reflection of what is happening on the inside.  One such area is the face.  Known as face mapping areas on the face are reflections of each TCM organ in the system.  For example, we often find a lot of tension between the eyebrows.  This is the Liver area.  The Liver Qi can be affected by feelings of frustration and irritation, emotions that we often summarise as ‘feelings stressed’.  When we feel this way we can also characterise it by frowning and holding our heads in our hands.

My Clients response to her Treatments

My client committed to a series of treatments appreciating that healing takes time.

After her 1st treatment, my client experienced a better night’s sleep and a change in the skin on one cheek.

After her 2nd treatment, she started to receive compliments about how well and healthy she was looking at friends and family.  Her skin was looking clearer, brighter and the flushing across her cheeks had reduced.  She was beginning to feel better able to maintain her focus.  She reported generally feeling better within herself.  She had 3 nights of good sleep pattern but that had become a little unsettled again however, it was a very busy time at work with to make deadlines creating a bit more stress than may be experienced at other times in the year.

After the 3rd treatment, she continued to feel better within herself, felt she had more energy and her sleep continued to improve.  Her skin was much clearer with a just small patch of dryness left.  The added bonus was that she noticed that she was feeling straighter within her body and that her back (the reason we started working together initially) felt “better than ever” highlighting the holistic nature of the treatment.

How would you feel to have more support with your menopause symptoms?

The outcome my client was looking for from her sessions was to sleep better, improved energy and skin and confidence.  This meant that she could feel better within herself, be more present for her family and life felt easier.

What would it mean to you to feel better about yourself, your health and your wellbeing by receiving more support for your peri-menopause and menopause symptoms?
